Yealink T58 EOL - End of Life

I guess this phone was introduced in 2019 according to this page:

3 years later I see it in the EOL product page:
https://support.yealink.com/en/portal/home?categoryId=44

WTF? Is this anything common in this industry?

I had to check because I see a new firmware for it on the 3cx website (v58.86.0.39) while on the Yealink website the latest firmware I found is v58.86.0.20.

Am I missing anything? Thank you

T58A is indeed EOL as it has been replaced with T58W (Pro).
The Yealink website hosts the 3CX firmware on a separate page from the individual product support pages: https://www.yealink.com/en/solution-detail/resource-for-3cx (at the bottom, T58V/T58A/T56A 58.86.0.39.)

Before purchasing phones, you might want to look at manufacturer's websites to see how long they usually support devices, and what their EOL policies are.

You should look up the release date of a given model (they usuall publish a dated press release) to estimate the lifetime.

But yes, it is common for devices to enter EOL status, especially after the chip shortage occurred and many had to redesign new boards with different components and SoC.

I just saw it was a pretty new flagship model, from one of the biggest companies, and that was enough.
I don't think it will be a big deal as long as they provide security updates, I was just surprised by the timing.

The T58W is fairly new now, and should last a few years in case you like this model.

They also have it with a wireless bluetooth handset, so you can avoid the spiral cable.
