W80B on firmware - 103.83.0.109
Provisioning Method - STUN

Referring to my previous post:
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/no-audio-on-w80dm.84780/

The service provider logged a ticket with the Yealink, and after a lot of troubleshooting and R&D they finally came up with a solution for the audio issues.

The following parameter on the phone template fixes the issue:
phone_setting.change_183_to_180 =1
(uploading a CFG file with this parameter to the Yealink device works, but my concern is auto provisioning removing the setting again after power failures or base reset)

I am on 3CX Settings > Template settings (trying to follow a 3CX guide) but I am unsure which template to edit for the Yealink W80DM / Yealink W80B. I am also concerned that making this change will affect the other devices on 3CX.

Can anyone provide some clarity on this?

Hi Carmen,

You cannot build custom templates for DECT devices like you can for normal desk phones.
Try to reboot the device and re-export the config after 5 mins. to see if your custom setting is still there.
3CX does not overwrite settings that are not included in our template, and as far as I know, the above is not included.

As for the issue and why that setting makes a difference, I'm not sure but I imagine it has something to do with your provider (or FXO gateway) when you make outbound calls. They probably answer back with a 183-Session Progress, and then downgrade to a 180-Ringing. Perhaps the Yealink does not accept the downgrade without that option set.

Based on Yealink's description I guess you had audio once the call was answered, but you were just not hearing the ringback tone while you wait. This sounds like a provider issue more than anything else if I had to take a guess.

Thank you for the thorough response @JohnS_3CX

To answer your question, we initially had no audio, then after enabling "180 Ring Workaround" on the Yealink UI we had audio, but still no ring tone. Yealink then provided me with the CFG file which sorted the problem out completely.

It does seem to keep the config after a reboot. Just hoped there is a better solution.

Let me log this with our service provider. Thanks for your input and expertise.

No problem. Normally if they send 183, it kind of implies that they will also send you the ringback tone.

The phone understands that, and does not play its own ringback since the provider will be sending something (ie. a message played before ringing, or their own ringback tone).

What happens after that I'm not sure.. But if they could send 180 only, then the phone would be forced to play its own tone to you, until the other side answers.

I have the same problem. I wonder if I can have the config file sent to you by yealink?
