centrally controlling Yealink handset volume

Hi All,

Hope someone can help/ advise. We have around 30-40 Yealink t54W handset's in play and wish to centrally control the ringer volume, or lock as it's highest setting, can this be done from with 3CX centrally?

No, this is individally per device...

You can speak with Yealink and look at their manuals to see what options they have.

But I think that while you could in theory do it with a custom template, the user could still manually adjust the volume with the buttons so I don't see much point in trying if you can't lock the buttons.

You can try adding the following to a custom template:

force.voice.ring_vol=10

This will lock the volume at 10 and the physical buttons will not change that. Valid values are 0 to 15 with 15 being full volume. We've used this successfully on T77U and T87W.

Another we haven't tested yet:

phone_setting.voice.ring_vol_min=10

In theory this one allows the volume buttons to still work but they will not be able to turn the volume down lower than 10, valid values are again 0-15.

EDIT: Just tried that last one on a T46U, works perfectly and if you try to use the volume button to adjust below the set value it even pops a little message on the phone screen "The minimum volume has been fixed".

Best option would be to use the Yealink Cloud Management portal.

We use this for all our devices and meeting rooms accross all our clients.

You can create config profiles that will push through to 3cx, I believe you would be able to control the volume for this through the portal. If someone was to turn it down, this would also reset back to max when its been re providioned.

The portal is also very good for diagnostics like packet captures on a specific device, screen shots of the screen of a phone and many other thing.
