Hello all,

Would appreciate any help on this.

Running version 18.0 Update 3 (Build 461 )enterprise. Hosted by 3CX. I setup 3CX SBC on a windows machine and then followed the steps in the guide to add the SBC and the Grandstream HT801 for 17 faxes. Worked flawlessly. Customer had a power outage and after that only 1 ATA was registered. I confirmed that the ata's were powered up and was able to login via the gui. I attempted first to upload the configuration and then after that I uploaded the latest firmware. However with that I get the following error message: HTTP/1.0 500 Server Error Content-Type: text/html CGI Error
Attempted to send content larger than allowed limits.

I then attempted a reboot. I did this for several of the ATA's. I also went into the SBC and restarted the service. I also went into the portal and rebooted the 3cx server. After doing this repeatedly to several units I was able to get 3 more working for a total of 4. But honestly not seeing which thing that I did was the reason they started to work and have tried all of that on the remaining ATA's unsuccessfully and because it goes through the SBC and I am not on-site I have not been able to inspect the traffic to see the cause. I ran compare it on the configuration XML file of a working unit and a non-working unit and no major changes exist. Also it is set to check for firmware updates on every reboot.

Any suggestions?

Hi!

As you are in this situation, the first thing you would want to check is if you have the latest firmware that the Grandstream website offers.
That may not be the solution, but while you're at it, you might as well bring them up to the latest.

Onto the issue, unfortunately a lot of these devices not only from Grandstream are known to go a bit haywire with sudden power cuts.

Maybe for one of the ones that is misbehaving try:
  1. Factory Reset one
  2. Upgrade firmware from GS website
  3. Reprovision from 3CX from the beginning.
You can always export the old config before you start the process and put it back if you want.

By the time though you have at least 1 working, my mind wouldn't go to something SBC-related.

I am starting to think its the firewall. The configurations are the same for the ones working and the ones not working, the SBC is up and the pbx is fine.

The SBC and the ATA must all be on the same network (and IP range or VLAN), with not NAT between them, and no SIP ALG.

- Can you confirm if this is true?
- Can you also confirm what exact firmware version they are ALL running?
- Can you also confirm your SBC version?
