@Matt Nelson As @cobaltit said, it depends on your provider. The best thing is to use the format required by your provider. This way, it doesn't need any manipulation.
It's true that in Canada we can pass the name, though I prefer to set the outbound number and set the name in the trunk parameters. This way, a business can have multiple DIDs for direct-line and such.
