Hello,

I'm in the process of upgrading systems running version 15.5 SP6 to 16. The scenarios where there is no SBC are pretty straight-forward, and this page is actually helpful: https://www.3cx.com/docs/upgrading-pbx-v16/

However, I cannot find any documentation on the upgrade procedure if an SBC is in place on-premise. I did one system where I manually re-provisioned all 8(ish) phones from SBC to STUN, made a full backup, uninstalled 15, rebooted, installed 16 from the backup, then wiped the SBC (or upgraded, can't remember) and re-setup the SBC and moved the phones back to it.

Does anyone know if there's a smoother process for this? Surprisingly there are 'No results found for "3CX 15 to 16 with SBC"' in the entire world of google.

Thanks!

Thanks @cobaltit , they're all on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (and some B+) remotely accessed via Dataplicity.

So after you upgrade the 3CX instances they should still work with the old SBC. I don't remember since we've migrated all ours a while ago but you should just be able to apt-get purge 3cxsbc and then run the script per the install link above after creating the SBC as a trunk. Going forward you should just be able to upgrade the SBC via the console.

Purge the sbc? So when you said "upgrade the SBC" up above, you actually meant uninstall it and install the new version? I only ask because I have been searching for "upgrading SBC" since then and all I have found is the "sudo apt upgrade 3cxsbc" command on the SBC link you provided above, and was planning on running that after upgrading the system to 16 thinking it would update, then run through the old school DOS-like looking wizard. Maybe that upgrade command does just that; purge, download ver16 and initiate the installation wizard...

The upgrade works I believe, but like I said, it was some time ago. It's about 2 minutes of work so you can try the upgrade path and if that doesn't work then just do the purge and act like a fresh install. There is no phone specific information in the SBC, just the info it needs to proxy communication back to the 3CX installation
