3CX Backup to SFTP or FTPS

Apologies if this is a duplicate post, there are some old post I can see, however no conclusive answer to if somethings been implemented (that I can see!)

So does anyone know if SFTP/FTPS backup capability ever got implemented?
Failing that another secure way of backup for the PBX's ....

We can't use Google Drive without creating an account for every client..

Secure SFTP / FTPS has not been implemented.

Only backup options are local, FTP and google drive.

How many clients do you have, you only have to setup the account once ?

Another option, depending on how much data is being backed up - create one account, and you can specify a different folder location within Google drive for each client

Yep thought as much but thought worth checking.
not a great deal of clients that we would have to do it for.

Essentially we provide as a managed service however the client has access.
So I can't do google Drive, stick it in a directory where he/she could then go into the console and either select another folder or see other folder names/listing etc as you dont have to re-enter the password etc to re-select a folder.

Simplest is FTP but its a shame 3CX doesn't seem to want to implement this in a secure way.

So if you are doing a managed service, install a Synology single drive unit and setup the FTP server by customer access. They still can have access and you control the rights. It works well, I schedule weekly backups for over a dozen customers. Ease to manage and administer plus it has other option that are beneficial to the business.

No SSL transmitting so wouldn’t be secure.

So if you save the backup as encrypted is that not enough? I get the encrypted transport. The other option is to enable SFTP on your Debian server and cron job or rsync the file to the Synology or where ever. You can run Monit to track status if you really want to have some fun. You are letting the obstacles get in the way of solving the problem, which is backing up the customer data for the inevitable.

Sorry for prioritising customers data with the secure nature it requires.

While you may see as obstacles, I see it as a lack of features (it seems) in the system.

Local backups to usb already in progress and manual monthly in progress so no risk here.

So you are already using the 3CX option to encrypt the local backups? Otherwise complaining that unencrypted transfer of encrypted data is not secure enough while storing them un-encrypted locally seems silly. But since you are already backing them up locally anyways then use whatever tool you want to securely copy those files somewhere else.

That's exactly where I was headed. Encrypted is encrypted regardless of the transport. Having a USB in the middle is actually more dangerous, could get lost, stolen, overwritten, aliens? Encrypt transfer done. No intermediary steps. Safe secure scheduled.
