We had a client who upgraded to V16 yesterday evening from V15.5 SP6 on windows server 2012 r2.
There were a couple of issues.
Even though the scheduled backup had the music on hold option. all the audio files for the digital receptionist and custom voicemail were not there. We had to restore them again manually
The call center supervisors usually access the recordings from the console and I think one of them may have purged all recordings. The system has been deleting recordings with no way to stop them:
I unmounted the disk for recordings from windows and changed the location to the C drvie but it's still continuing. Additionally the logs don't show who initiated the purge.
This is very unfortunate, if your backup included the recordings you can easily restore it and start again.
If not, then try the following that may hopefully help you get them back (no guarantees, just best effort):
Stop all the PBX services to make the purge process end.
Try to use a data recovery tool of your choice to bring the files back if you can. It is important to recover the names of the recordings too otherwise the system won't be able to use them ever again. Try and do it before new data is written to the disk, and you might be able to recover the lost recordings.
When done, make a copy of whatever recordings survived, onto a second drive for safe keeping in case anything else goes wrong.
Reboot the machine
When the machine logs in again, reconnect the drive with the recovered recordings and make your PBX use the old location again as it was before the purge.
The freshly recovered recordings may be on the disk now, but the system does not see them due to the previous purge, so we must make it find them again by going to Settings > Parameters and creating a parameter (if it doesn't already exist) called RECS_SYNC_REQUIRED, then set the value to 1
The system is now ready to re-discover the lost recordings that you may have recovered with a data recovery tool. Just head to the dashboard and click Convert Recordings
Hopefully if all goes well you should be able to get the recordings back and also make your PBX see them again as before.
We have some planned changes in the future that will include the person who initiated an action in the logs.
Conversion for the previous recordings had been in progress before the purge, will that affect the recovery process? I can't stop services as calls are in progress. I will try the recovery at night
If you stop the services then everything should stop (both conversion and purge). On a positive note, any recordings that had not yet been converted will most likely have survived the purge intact.
