Hello forum,
I am stuck scratching my head on this one. We currently run a production 3cx V12 with 200+ extensions but it is time to upgrade. I built a lab with a separate internet connection and went through the process of upgrading a backup of the V12 all the way through to the current version of 3cx 16. Now after a few months of training different end users I need to go back and take a fresh backup of the 3cx V12 and apply it too the lab V16 before I plan the cut over to production on the V16. The problem I am having is, going from version 14 to 15.5 in the upgrade process, it will no longer accept my current license with maintenance, and says it is not for this version. I'm assuming because I had already taken it up to version 16. Today I tried getting a free version license using my personal email address and I get the same problem using a free license. Has anyone experienced this and have a work around or possible know if I am missing a step. I have search the internet for several hours without any luck finding any useful information. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You will have to contact 3cx support on this one, as you have upgraded your license key to v16 which is not backwards compatible.

You may also have issues on 3cx fqdn and ssl certificate , as you can not have two systems running at the same time with the same license key - you may have to release the existing 3cx fqdn from the customer portal

free license gives you a license for v16 only,

Hi,

Follow as @Saqqara said, there is no other way around it once the license is upgraded its cannot go down to a lower version.
