Solved 3CX Hosted - No option to configure Grandstream Key Extension

Good day.

I have been working through a trial of 3CX Dedicated Hosted with the intent to purchase Professional this week. The only issue I am having so far is that in the hosted version of 18U6 (which has very poor documentation from what I can tell) there are no options to configure the KEX for a Grandstream GRP2615. The config file downloaded from the hosted instance includes the EXT fields to configure the kex.



But there isn't a way in the web portal to configure these options.

If I was running on-prem, I could manually edit the xml files. But, I don't see this option in Hosted. If I configure the kex manually on the phone itself, it gets overridden after a short bit.

Any insight into what I may be missing or how I could go about setting these options in a 3CX Hosted environment?

You can not make changes to templates with 3cx-hosted instances. Additionally, any settings required can be configured via the extensions settings in the management console or webclient, wherever settings are available.

I shouldn't need to change the template if the configuration file already has the options I need.

I just want to be able to configure the options that are already in the configuration file the 3CX hosted is providing my phone.......

I found a very odd workaround for my issue, which seems to be par for the course with the management console vs admin console....

I had tried adding BLFs to the phone but never over 30. When I applied more than 10, the Grandstream 2615 started creating pages of PLKs on the main screen and did not spill over to the kex. If you go over 38 additional BLFs on this phone, it then begins to spill over into the EXT fields shown in the configuration file snippet above.

Adding the BLFs is much easier in the Admin console than the Management console. Adding BLFs in the Management Console is 1 BLF per click. The Admin console is 10 BLFs at a time.

But, after the initial 38, I now can add enough to configure the kex.

If you were referring to Grandstream's Extension module, then yes this is the intended behavior. You need to fill in the gap with blanks until you reach the first key of the module.

The blanks vary by phone model, depending on how many onboard BLFs your IP Phone has.
