HI guys,

Can you give me instruction or idea on how we could setup our failover using private IP (LAN).

Example:
192.168.x.1 (Primary 3CX)
192.168.x.2 (Backup 3CX)

We asked our local support vendor but they are insisting on having it setup using an internet DNS pointer with two different Public IP. We just need a local automated failover of our server.

Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at this document?

https://www.3cx.com/docs/failover/

And you might want to find another vendor. What you want is pretty straightforward provided you provision the phones with a FQDN (can be internal or use the 3CX FQDN) and you have control over the DNS servers your phone use.

yes I did but the setup is for public IP and DNS setting, I just need to have an automated switching when one of my internal 3CX server shutdown.

Custom Failover Usage
For Failover use with custom FQDN and LAN-to-LAN or LAN-to-Cloud scenarios, to update your DNS and FQDNs when failover occurs, you need to use advanced scripting and services like Active Directory to run shell scripts with administrative privileges.

You can find sample scripts for Windows-based machines here.

Some scripts might need to run under impersonated user accounts. To achieve this you need to follow additional steps documented here.

Thanks for this, will check.
