Hi,

We are planning on migrating our current on premise installation to the cloud using Google Cloud Platform.
We require this to use a static IP as our current SIP provider restricts registrations to whitelisted IP addresses, my understanding is that I won't be able to obtain a static IP until the PBXExpress has created the google project and VM instance however we need to know the IP address before we attempt the migration so that we can inform the SIP provider of the new IP so that it can be in place for when we restore the backup to minimise downtime.

Does anybody have any suggestions on the best process to achieve this?

Thanks in advance

Hi dblogic,

PBX Express might not be a good solution for your particular scenario. You can instead create a new VM with a static IP in the google cloud platform, and install 3CX manually on it. Or for more ease, you can launch it via the Marketplace and it will have 3CX pre-installed at which point you can just switch the IP address before you start the 3CX setup wizard.

Now that you have obtained an IP, it's just a matter of backing up your system and restoring the backup on the google cloud. You will then have to proceed to reprovision your phones accordingly.

Note: Consider from beforehand whether you will use an SBC, STUN mode, or VPN in order to have the phones reconnected to the PBX.
