3CX Paging with cloud hosted PBX

Hello

We have a 3cx server in the cloud (version 15.5 sp4), with remote yealinkT46S phones throughout different locations. Is paging or multicast paging possible in this setup?

Using just Cloud PBX and Yealink phones this is only with custom templates and only paging within each site.

You configure the multicast listen on the phones that you want to hear the page and configure a BLF to make the page.

You are best to configure through a custom template because the 3CX template will override the settings. So if you configure them through the web interface of the phone they will be lost in 24 hours unless you disable provisioning of the phone.

The settings are on the yealink phone under "directory" "Multicast IP". For the template edit this line:

"multicast.paging_address.1.ip_address =" and put the values you want to use for the multicast IP such as "224.0.0.1:5001"

Then pick a DSS key to put the "Page" key and set the type to "paging" and the value to the same Multicast ip/port "224.0.0.1:5001" with "Page" as the label. Through the template locate the DSS/BLF key you want to configure it as and set as follows (replacing X for the BLF key to use):

linekey.X.type = 24
linekey.X.value = 224.0.0.1:5001
linekey.X.label = Page

Not required but I suggest the following additional settings for the Multicast Listener. This will set the phone so that if people are talking it will not interrupt an active phone call.

multicast.receive_priority.priority = 0
multicast.receive_priority.enable = 0

Not exactly. You can do regular paging without any modifications just fine with a cloud-based 3CX as it will make direct SIP calls. However for performance reasons if you have more than 20 extensions in the paging group then multicast is recommended and you have to do something like what @CentrexJ said.

I would also recommend upgrading to the latest 3CX version to avoid any issues with activation. Due to some changes to the activation server older versions can no longer authenticate to the server to activate. If for some reason your system tries to activate i will fail causing to revert to a free version.
