@bac.aro Thank you for the heads up :) Yes the windows client will be replaced with the electon app, its just around the corner. Just wait a month or two and it will be available :)
Would this significant change to the Windows client app still include the ability to launch an "External Application" on incoming call? We have found this valuable with our current customer base. The web client appears to only have the ability to open a custom URL or a URL via CRM integration.

Hello @Callinectes ,

Can you please elaborate a bit more on your business case?
You can share more information with me via personal message if you want.

I don't mind sharing. It's very simple - we have customers that must open a web based CRM in Internet Explorer. We accomplish this by using a batch file. Since the 3CX web client requires a Chromium browser and their CRM requires Internet Explorer we had to find an alternative. It is likely this will change and become moot, but it is a current need nonetheless.

Their CRM is that old?

Replaced? I hope it will have the same feature set before you remove the current one.
Like controlling the windows softphone with the Webclient (crucial for terminal server use cases)

@Bolz IT the new windows client will have the softphone integrated so no remote control is necessary or possible.....

Are there any updates on the API / Gateway Service that will be part of V18? We are currently testing 3CX for our wholesale business and really need to do a deep integration into our ERP system.

Unrelated question: We have a professional licence for productive use. Is there any way to get a licence key to install the V18 alpha with the professional licence features?

You could issue a new Trial License Key and then talk to your partner to convert it to a POC to try it out.

@ckrammer - what functions do you need that are not in the CRM API? We have integration with our ERP and for all functions such as query of customer name etc the CRM API works fine.

The most important step would be the ERP to poll information from 3CX when needed. ERP needs to get information about current and past calls from the extension connected. Basically when a sales rep opens a function in ERP, ERP should check if there is an active or recently closed call to a customer.

You can do this today but i think you are misunderstanding the direction of communication. You can log all the calls to your ERP using the CRM API. Then you can do your reporting and all that right from the ERP. 3CX is not to be seen as a datastore. We can simply log the calls in the ERP and you take it from there.

I looked into CRM API briefly, but I did not see an option to log ongoing calls. Did I miss this? The more important part for me is to show the sales rep which client he is talking to and offer him options where to start from there.

The CRM API is exactly for that. When you make or receive a call from an external number, the number is searched in the CRM / ERP, and the contact details are added to 3CX Contacts. The information here must include the Contact URL. Then the Web Client / Chrome Extension will automatically popup that URL on the agent's PC.

In addition, these calls from/to matched contacts are logged to the CRM/ERP. So the information is in your system, and you don't need to query 3CX to get it.

If you need more help or details about this, please start a thread in the CRM Forum and we'll help you out.

Hi ,

What if we want to launch the customer file in our ERP?

Because for the moment the file is only opened in the softphone.

The REST API will allow it?

When you create a template for your CRM/ERP, you must return a Contact URL. This URL will be launched on the agent's PC when they receive the call. You just need to provide the proper URL in the template.

OK why not.

And will the answer / hang up on the ERP be possible with the REST API V18?

A bit like with the TAPI layer.

This is not possible at the moment. You need to answer and hang up from the phone or 3CX client.

It is a shame because it means that we cannot integrate 3Cx telephony transparently into our ERP.

that requires having several programs displayed in the foreground.

and in the case of an ANDROID software, changing applications to make a call.

While a simple REST request could be sent to the software to call / pick up.

It will be very practical for it to be added to the REST API to open the integrated telephony to many potential customers.
