Dear 3CX Community:

My company has a customer that requires a SIP trunk to be configured to another PBX so that extension-to-extension dialing and long distance hop-off can work between the two systems. With 3CX there appears to be two options:

1. A Generic SIP Trunk (available as an option under VoIP Provider list)
2. A Bridged connection.

The problem that we are having is that the 3CX Generic SIP Trunk requires an external telephone number and authentication ID & password (there is none assigned by the 2nd PBX). In addition, it appears that on the 3CX side, the Trunk must be connected to an extension, queue, ring group, or digital receptionist. We also have the option to end the call.

The 3CX Bridge is similar in that it doesn't require an external telephone number but does require termination on an extension, queue, ring group, etc. or end the call.

Is there a way to create a SIP trunk or bridge between the two systems that serves as an outbound rules route option only without the need to terminaate on an extension? Is ending the call a good option?

We are open to other ideas and configuration options and welcome your help!

Thanks,

Rob

I'm not positive if you are trying to do dialling from the remote PBX towards 3CX or the other way. In either case you should be able to register a generic trunk in 3CX with an extension in the other SIP PBX or vice versa. Digits sent would be interpreted as dialled digits from a phone in the remote PBX.

Some of the fields in the trunks settings don't necessarily require valid information, you have to experiment.

Incoming calls to 3CX from the remote PBX can use different outbound rules created specificity for the extension that the remote trunk is registered to.

Actually this is possible. You just need to learn Russian :-)

The answer to your question is positive, however this is not an universal solution and depends strongly on other PBX and functionality you want to achieve, type of lines, extensions, caller-id, etc. What brand / model is it? Can you share more details?

We've implemented this successfully with many brands like Panasonic, Avaya, Siemens.

Regards

This is universal method from 3CX side. From "other vendor" side you have to ask it's vendor, as a rule.

Hi Rob , i understood how you say .
Configure UserId and Password ( wrong data ) , but set correctly IP Address where two system is connected .
On SIP Trunk autentication is trusted between IP Address .
We have integrated
. Cisco CUCM
. 3COM NBX
. Alcatel OXO
. Avaya IP OFFICE
. Mitel ICP3300

Only problem is configure correct match how incoming-call , outbound-call handle .
Some time you have problem with Caller-Id Called-Id , Caller-Name Called-Name , in this case you must work soo hard

Dear 3CX Community:
