I tried to search the forums before posting. Apologies it this is too simple a question. Just want to confirm my though process.
I have a client that we moved their office phones to 3cx. They have several staff members who all use Google voice. Our client wants to move the staff to the 3cx phone app with each staff member having their own extension. 1:1 SMS #'s for all the users seems a bit prohibitive. Am I incorrect in this? Should I just refer them to use Click to Chat links in their contact info? The main feature of Google Voice the staff like and are hesitant to move from is being able to SMS/Text back and forth with their clients.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but it looks like you are asking is if 1:1 SMS #'s is prohibitive, but I think you are the only person that can answer that question as it's really a cost question. I mean each person has a unique number now so yes you would need to maintain that to have the same capabilities. It's essentially the same service just through 3CX (and a SMS supported provider) instead of Google Voice.

If the main feature of Google Voice is the ability to SMS back and forth then click to chat isn't going to cut it.

I know cost is always a factor and I am looking at the 3cx SMS Providers for pricing. The other part is manageability of the solution. Thanks for answering. I think I have a direction to go now. Maybe just another voice was helpful besides a bunch of Forum Posts.

I'm not sure how many users you have to setup, but there shouldn't be too much management needed after the initial configuration. Training the users on doing it the 3CX way is going to be the bigger hurdle.

Good luck!
