Hi,

I want to migrate 3cx from windows to ubuntu, but i stuck at an issue since the ubuntu machine is been used for another purpose.

3cx wants package libcurl3 while libcurl4 is already installed and used for the other software. uninstalling libcurl4 is not an option since it is been used. Maybe 3cx needs upgrading their package?

Is there any workaround? Or i do not have any option and need to try out other alternatives...?

Well ubuntu is debian based so.. nevertheless the os is not the problem but the issue lies on 3cx using old version of the libcurl package ie 3, where I have libcurl4 already installed and is been used so I cannot unistall it in order to install the old version ie libcurl3.

The point is you are not likely to find support here since you are trying an unsupported configuration. If you can't remove libcurl4 to install libcurl3 I think you have your answer.

I know that but i hoped there is some kind of solution where it might be able to use the newer package libcurl4. Maybe a newer beta of 3cx perhaps, if anyone knows?

They cannot update a package just like that. From version to version there might be breaking changes. When a package is upgraded they need to make a lot of testing to make sure nothing is affected (other than obviously see the change log of the package). Not only you are installing on Ubuntu which is not officially supported but you are also trying to install it on a system which is already being used for something else which is something 3CX does not recommend.

Why don't you just install it on another system and be trouble free? There are so many deployment options. V16 even supports raspberry pi. If you don't wanna pay anything and just want to test it why don't you just try the 3CX cloud trial version? Using the PBX Express you'll get it up and running in literally less than 10 minutes.

v16 may support it when it's released but I doubt it since I think v16 will be released before Debian 10 is released.

I saw there is v16 alpha 2 by now. I want to test and try it but i only found the iso not the apt source list for the 16 testing

If you read the link I posted, 3cx should be only application installed on the operating system, for this exact reason if it worked on this version of linux

Ofcourse i read it, was the first thing I did before even attempting anything! Thanks for all your replies. It tortured me a bit but I have managed to make it work, no worries.
