Solved 3CX with 2 NIC's

Hello everyone,

I am at a point where I don't know if working with 3CX will solve my issue. So I have basically the next configuration:

Local Server (with Proxmox) installed using 3CX ISO. These days, my ISP will change the network configuration in the next way:

Connecting to my SIP Provider will require a dedicated connexion on one ethernet card (who doesn't have access to the internet, it's an MPLS VPN Connection to the SIP Server) and I will need a second ethernet connection (who has access to the internet using NAT) with another IP Address, because I will want to access 3CX system (Phone from Mobile, Phone from other Office).

It's this possible with 3CX? If yes, I didn't found any tutorial on how to install 3CX with 2 network cards. I specify again that on the first I will not have internet acces, I will be only able to connect to the SIP Provider, and I will need the second one to connect 3CX to the internet.

I just found out that my configuration will be like:

ETH1 Port - SIP Provider - who uses the MPLS VPN connection via my ONT installed in location, and on this network card I need to specify the IP Address of the SBC, netmask and Gateway.
ETH2 Port - Internet access for accessing 3CX outside of my company.

Is this possible if I go via Segregated VoIP network?

Some routers do not support multiple internal networks. However, the administrator would still want to have a second network, which is normally used only for VoIP traffic. "This can be done by adding another network card to the server running 3CX Phone System."

I want to know how to add another network card to the server running 3CX. I have a server running 3CX now hosted on Proxmox, using 3CX ISO downloaded from the site. But from Settings - > Network I can only choose the "
Choose which IP is the Default Internet facing IP Address. (Default gateway)"

Can you please let me know how this setting can be modified?

@Razvan19 This is not a 3CX question but a network design question. It sounds like you might want to engage a network engineer or knowledgeable 3CX partner to assist with this.

@cobaltit no, it's just a simple question. I don't want to engage a network engineer, I only want an answer to a simple question. How do I do this? I didn't required special treatment, or somebody to come into my PC and solve it. I am more than able to do this, but searching in Google, didn't provided me with a thankfully response to my question.

I agree with this, the setup can be tricky, but would be quite simple for someone properly versed in networking and linux, This question isnt a 3CX realm question, its a subnet/routing question. Just forcing that variable is not your answer. Thus @cobaltit is doing you a favor by not answering you, thus you dont take off on a dead end path and cause configuration problems to your 3CX server which would likely end up in you needing a re-install, or an even more serious expert to fix what gets messed up.

Think of it this way, A painter can build an engine, learning as he goes, and researching it over many weeks, an engineer can build it right the first time, in a day or two.

So.. I've been Googling and I found out some topics, I saw different configurations from my.

I will try to detail as good as possible, and if somebody it's "available" to give me an answer, it's welcome.

So, my network configuration look like this:

ONT - LAN Port 1 - PPPoE Connection made by router (router's LAN IP pool: 10.11.12.1/24 - internet access.)
- LAN Port 2 - MPLS VPN connection directly to the SIP Trunk provider. They gave me the username/password for my account, and the following details:
IP PBX:192.168.30.94
NM : 255.255.255.252
GW :192.168.30.93

How can I setup 3CX to connect to the SIP Trunk using the second NIC?

I tried to connect to the SIP Trunk from my PC using MicroSIP, it worked. But only with 1 NIC, connected directly to the LAN Port 2.

Now I am trying to connect 3CX Virtual Machine, made on Proxmox Local Server, (who has 2 network cards, one connected into the router (LAN 1 port - internet access) and the other one is connected directly to ONT LAN Port 2.

Ok, I agree with you. With who to take contact?

I recommend first a local IT guy who is close to you, BUT, make sure he has CCNA or Network+ Certification, and strong linux skills first, if you can find one who also knows 3CX this is golden, but as long as the IT person has a strong networking background, they can get the network side setup properly, but then call 3CX and get help with that part if needed.

Finding a local person would be best for you because some of this might require him being onsite, depending on your setup.

I have assisted, and it seems his proxmox networking is not working properly, his VM cannot get any packets on the second nic, it is dead as dead can be, i am not a proxmox person so i cannot ascertain what is wrong with it, only that there is no layer 2 traffic, cannot even arp for the mac address of the gateway.

It will work if LAN1 is connected to the internet, and LAN2 is connected privately to a VoIP provider (no gateway must be running on LAN 2, read the link I sent you above).

Maybe contact your hosting platform provider and ask them to help you with the network setup. Otherwise, build a second VM for testing, and when you figure out how to setup the dual LAN in a working then apply the equivalent settings on your main machine. Get a backup off the machine first just in case something goes wrong so you can restore easily.
