I have setup a 3CX phone that has a Vertex (4 line) caller ID that essentially sniffs SIP invites to extract caller ID information so that it can be send to a segmented POS system. The POS system is able to see the caller ID information when setting up the inbound SIP trunk DID to ring an extension or a ring group. The issue I have encountered is when setting an IVR with a greeting message, the caller ID information is not preserved going to the POS system. The Vertex device sits in-line between the PBX and the internet. My only guess is 3CX interacts with the extensions differently post IVR than it does with a direct extension invite.

Has anyone had any similar experience or have a setup like this?

No not personally, but the only thing that springs to mind is the inclusion of a true SBC inbetween the 2 elements.

True SBC's (and I call them this on this forum to set them apart from the 3CX SBC application) can be deployed as B2BUA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back-to-back_user_agent and thus take control of both legs/sessions of the call(s) and thus give you more control.

Just a thought for you since you have not had a response on this thread so far.
