Thanks for the alpha client for Mac, it is reassuring to see this moving forward.

Just for confirmation for any internal testing, we have deployed this on a few Macs for our testing and these are the results we are seeing:

Issues:
- Outbound calling consistently fails.
- 3CX Tunnel for external access does not work (changing this configuration can cause app crash @50%, Windows and iOS connect fine over 3CX Tunnel with our server).
- Changing your audio input on your Mac while the phone app is running does not update the phone app, you must exit and relaunch (i.e. - Switching to a headset from built-in equipment.)
- Setting up Conferences does not work yet.
- Switching modes to CTI does not work yet, SIP softphone only.
- Forwarding Rules in the client, when forwarding to another extension, do not show which extension the forward is going to nor provide any option to select a specific extension.
- App crashes changing most settings @25% of the time.

Functional:
- Inbound calls work.
- Changing presence works.
- Displaying contacts works (including the Mac Address book as well as the 3CX phonebooks).
- Displaying recent calls works.
- Playing voicemails works (though uses the system playback device, so if you haven't switched the Mac to a headset, it will play out on your speakers).
- Display recordings works.

Thanks for the progress and looking forward to the next release....

I just installed 3CXPhone for Mac V12 Alpha Build 1.0.27 and I'm getting a "Invalid username" error.

I tried the same settings with ISoftPhone Pro, and it registers. What am I doing wrong?

Why not just run the software and use the provisioning email attachment (config file).
Then you are sure to be setup properly 100%.
Under management console, goto extensions, find the extension and select send welcome email.
Then you should be able to drop the config file right ontop of the Mac client.

"Invalid username" is a strong hint that the MyPhone channel failed to authenticate. What's the PBX and its version?

3CX version 11.

Can't find the "send welcome email" option.

EDIT: Found it, going to try it.

EDIT #2: When I send a mail, I get everything in text. There is no file as you say or as this manual (http://www.3cx.com/manual/3CXPhoneSystemManual12.pdf) is talking about. I tried to put the provisioning url here (see screenshot", but still I get invalid username :(

your provisioning URL is a v11 url I think. The Mac softphone is for v12.

Hi
As Craig said: 3CXPhone for MAC is designed to work with a 3CXPhoneSystem version 12 - it will not work with a different PBX.

Now, the long explanation:
3CXPhone has, basically, two "engines" inside: the SIP and the MyPhone. Unlike the previous versions, here is the MyPhone "engine" responsible for call history, voicemails, recordings, presence, contacts and other such features. If the MyPhone channel fails to authenticate, there will no further automatic connection attempts, since this may lead to an IP blacklist by the PBX.

I just updated our 3CX v12 to use the Webconference however the mac 1.07 client STILL does not allow the use of conferencing... why is this?

I am connecting as a remote extension and in and out calls work fine but conferencing has never worked and so web meeting does not work.

when can we expect a fully functional Mac client?

FYI --- I used the imbedded update of 3cxPhone for Mac to update my client and I get the update the version is right but the client still does not think it is current and asks me to update every time I start it as well.

The latest version of Mac client appears to be able to setup a conference. But, I can not figure out where they configure their VM recordings like the Windows clients do. Is this not yet possible?

Hi Craig
In the current version no, but it will be available in the next version which will be released very soon.

Where can new users download the Mac client? I had someone download yesterday from the Blog link - and immediately had to do an update...
I expected it to be here:

Hi Craig

I notified this morning our team in charge with the blog about the "visibility" of 3CXPhone for MAC page, and they will take care about it. Until then, please use this:
http://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/3cxphone-mac-os-alpha/

Prompting for update means that the downloaded version is not synced with the one embedded in the latest 3CXPhoneSystem release - we will fix this too.

Thanks for feedback
vali

Thanks for the additional information.

Just an information: as we tested it seems that 3CXPhone for Mac V12 is not compatible with our 3CX Phone System V11, and it's probably normal.
Is there a V11 compatible version for Mac available?

Hi Andrea
No, actually all our soft phones, including the one for MAC, are targeted to support only 3CXPhoneSystem v12 or greater.

Thanks Vali, I'll just keep using my standard Voip phone then. :(

Hi everybody

We just released version 1.0.110 of our 3CXPhone for MAC.
I strongly advise to update yours to this version, since it has several critical crashes/hangups fixed, alongside with some significant performance tuning to increase speed and responsiveness.

tel:// protocol on Mavericks and Yosemite

Since version 1.0.23 one year ago, 3CXPhone for MAC supports the tel:// protocol. But, even you don't have to configure the 3CXPhone for this, your MAC configuration may prevents 3CXPhone to handle this protocol, and there is a difference between Mavericks and Yosemite:

- on Mavericks, the tel:// protocol will be handled by the most recent installed application able to handle it. Therefore, assuming you install first the 3CXPhone then a (fictional) TelApplication, the tel:// protocol will be handled by the TelApplication. If you uninstall 3CXPhone and reinstall it again, the protocol will be handled by the 3CXPhone.

- on Yosemite, there is a more elegant solution. Yosemite introduced the FaceTime, Apple's phone client, which is, obviously, the default handler of the tel:// protocol. However, if you open FaceTime's Preferences/Setting dialog, on the bottom there is a combo parameter called "Default for calls". By expanding it, you will be provided a list such as "TelApplication.app/ 3CXPhone12.app/ FaceTime.app", so you can select the 3CXPhone as the default handler of the tel:// protocol.

To test your settings you may open Safari with a HTML page containing a tel:// link (like in our blog/contacts) or in the address bar type, let's say, tel://1234567.

NOTE1: in both Mavericks and Yosemite, is not required that 3CXPhone to be running in order to handle the protocol - the system will launch it properly.
NOTE2: the number will be called on the current active account.

3CXphone Mac 1.0.110 - is tunnel working?

I can't connect remotely unless I'm VPN-ed into the office.
Can anyone confirm whether the remote tunnel is operational in the latest release?
Thanks.

Sorry for the unavoidable bump.. but why is a Mac post stickied in the Windows thread?

Hi Ian
At this moment, there is no dedicated forum section for the MAC client, so I'm using this topic as a replacement. When it will be - I will move this topic there.
