Good Morning Community,
we have a problem when trying to update the server.

We recive the error : "Unable to reach 3CX Updates server. Check your internet connection and try again."

While checking the same through server or mobile phone (without any firewall in between), using the DOWNLOAD_URL parameter (https://downloads-global.3cx.com/downloads/404.htm), we get a http 404 error.

This was working until some days ago. Any idea?

Hi @atsi

The url is not accessible from other devices, the error is normal.

  • What version is your PBX?
  • Have you done any changes on the machine that affect DNS resolution?

Hi John,
the version is 16.0.3.676.
We didn't change anything, but just for double-check we even tried to change the dns to 8.8.8.8, but without success.
We tried also to access the url from command line using elinks (text-based command line browser), from the same server ip, and we got 404...

Like I said, the 404 is normal = it's reachable, you are getting a reply from the server but it has no website to serve because it is not a web page.

You link above appears wrong, please paste what you see in the DOWNLOADS_URL parameter exactly. It should look something similar to https://downloads-us.3cx.com/downloads/v160

Can you confirm that all the folders of the 3CX system under Debian belong the the user "phonesystem" ?

If you copied any files or moved anything at some point that caused the owner to change, then you will get the same error under certain circumstances

Hi sorry for delay,
this is the result ....

drwxr-xr-x 5 phonesystem phonesystem 4096 nov 21 12:47 Bin
drwxr-xr-x 5 phonesystem phonesystem 4096 set 16 12:59 Data

Hi @atsi,

Sorry I meant all of the subfolders too. We have to make sure the rights have not changed on any files, causing the whole process to fail
