Hi,
i'd like to know an easy way to reproduce abbreviated numbers on PBX , in working zone with basic phones and nothing else, we'd like to be able to use abbreviated numbers to call providers for example. What's 3CX possible ?

I thought it could be something giving life easier, doing this in existing 3CX phonebook, adding a new field becoming the abbreviated number to use for dialing complete number.

Could this kind of way be done in a future pbx release?

Thanks Leejor for this doc, i already knew this fastidious way, have a lot of numbers to create. so this way is more like lines at school:(.

Was hoping for something simple and generally when it's simple it's also efficient.

When you are converting a short number (speed dial), to something longer (and external), you are still going to have to enter both, then choose the route to take, just like...outbound rules. I'm not sure how simple that process can be made.

(This doesn't exist in 3cx) my idea was to use phonebook with an added field , this field could be the abbreviated number. then you just need to dial AN and 3cx dial complete number in phonebook.

Sounds like something for the Ideas Forum. 3CX would have to check to be sure there are no conflicts with SIP IDs, extension numbers, or existing outbound rules.

When you start to get too many speed call numbers, you almost need a directory.

This area needs some improvement in 3cx for sure.
Phone books in general too...

for sure 3CX would have to do something fully thought and not quickly done to avoid conflicts, for Ideas have no privilege to post so..... unfortunately it surely stays like it is :(
