Hello,

does anybody here know a way/workaround to access the 3CX Webclient through an FQDN? Currently the admin console is "behind" the FQDN and the Webclient is accessible only by URL.
We want to make it easy for our customers. We want them to be able to access the Webclient by an easy to remember FQDN instead of "special" URL.
Has anyone here ever done something like this or any idea on how to workaround the current set up?

Best regards from Germany,

Currently the webclient is accessible at https://my.3cx.de/#/webclient, I would want it to be accsessible at my.3cx.de or if not possible because of the admin console then at least at another.3cx.de.

@Saqqara I see that this (sadly) is not possible out of the box.
Is there anyone in this forum that has done something like what I am looking for or has an idea for a workaround to accomplish what I am looking for (or something very similar) though?

End-goal again:
  • 3CX = my.product.de
    • Customer: webclient.product.de // customized
    • Admin: admin.product.de // as per default

Buy your own domain and set up forwarding.

Hi @Michael Schönburg ,
I think that this is very likely possible modifying nginx configuration in
/var/lib/3cxpbx/Bin/nginx/conf/nginx.conf (I did something similar with HTTP/HTTPS in https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/http-and-https.73945/).
But sometimes the system will regenerate the config file rewriting your customization!
Maybe, in this case, it's better to play with a separate virtual host config using
/etc/nginx/sites-available/webclient.product.de.conf and symlinking to
/etc/nginx/sites-enabled/webclient.product.de.conf

Giuseppe
PS: I fully agree that having a different hostname for the admin interface would be great.

Thank you for all the replies and suggested approaches.
I've tried to setup a redirection but it didn't work.

Is it possible that redirection doesn't work with 3CXs Webclient? Or can anyone approve that it's possible?

The 3CX server won't be involved until after the redirection, which is just telling the browser to go to a different URL. You might try using a different browser in case your browser cache is interfering with the redirect.

Oh my god. I am sorry. Should have tried that earlier. Very basic stuff. Indeed it works with another browser. Thank you for the hint.

But still this (URL redirect) is no ideal workaround. Neither would I like to play with nginx for every 3CX of every customer.

We at IT-Center Engels, as well as many of our customers, would love it if there was another option to access the webclient other than by the exact correct URL. One approach would be to turn it around and have the webclient accessible through the FQDN/IP, and the admin console only through a URL. Another would be - and some other software solutions do it this way already - to be able to switch between webclient and admin console via a button and so both are available via the same FQDN/IP.
We think this would have a noticeable impact on the customers experience.

Sadly I can't create a feature request for this. Would anyone else, to whom this is also important, care to create a feature request (must be a gold partner or higher)? Would be thankful for any support.

Why not just add it as a bookmark in your browser?

The users will initially click on the proper link from their welcome email. and then it is literally a few extra clicks to add it as a bookmark.
