Not sure if this is a PBX setting issue or something else. So apologies if in the wrong forum.

Our current setup:

We have one incoming line. We have a ring group for that incoming line. Initially we had 4 extensions in that ring group. Problem is though that we don't want to call everyone's phones as we have an open office and we don't force someone to answer calls as the colleagues that answer calls are also doing other things and we don't know if they are available or not. So as a workaround we created a 5 extension and that is a phone that sits on the cupboard and not assigned to anyone( it also has a different ring tone so it can be identified as an incoming call. This is the first extension in the hunt group. So whoever is free can simply pick up the call.

All the desk phones are Fanfil X10. We created a BLF key for that extension. So all people need to do is to press the BLF key to get the call.

Since last update ( about 10 days ago ), if 2 people try answering the call at the same time, 3CX creates a conference call instead of connecting one user but not the other.

It used to work just fine before the update.

I tried changing the BLF key to a speed dial key with *20*[EXTENSION] thinking that this would help, but it didn't.

Current version is V20 Update 8 ( Build 1109 Release )
Licence is Pro with 8 simultaneous calls.

Anyone got any idea what I can look at / change to fix this issue?

Change your BLF to a speed dial of *20* which is for call pickup instead of trying to specifically pick up that extension.

@stephan23, thank you for letting us know. The team will check and might get back to you to request additional info.

Colleagues that are not in the ring group sometimes answer the calls too. ( we haven't a big office ).

I tried *20*EXT which does answer the extension but still can generate conference calls
I tried *20*EXT# which produces an error saying something like "Dialog doesn't exist"
I tried *20* which basically picks up any call, even internal calls to totally different extensions.

Just discovered the Barge-in, listen and whisper option. Disabled this for all users as we don't use it anyway.
Still makes no difference.

Hi,

If you have a chance and the option/ability to do so, switch to a Queue instead of a Ring Group and check.

I also have another client experiencing this exact issue.

Additionally, when multiple users join the call, it appears that any participant hanging up ends the call for everyone.. This definitely seems to be a bug, as no configuration changes have been made at this site.

Is there any solution on the above ????
We are facing the same Conference issue , and customer is complaining ........

Open a ticket with 3CX.
There is clearly a bug with Ring groups, I was asked to create a Swapfile and NTP Server to resolve it.

Although KyriacosS_3CX suggested work around to change the Ring group to a Queue works, and if they need the "ringing" tone use the USToneProgress.wav as the on hold.

We would like to let you know that this issue will be fixed on U9 of the phone system. Please note that we cannot provide an ETA of when U9 final will be released, however keep an eye on 3CX's blog post where such announcements are made.
