Analogue PA system

Has anyone connected an analogue paging amplifier to a 3cx? Currently we have an Adastra PA amplifier which is connected to a paging port on the old PBX.
I would like to disconnect the PA system from the old PBX and connect in to the 3cx and I wondered if anyone has had any experience with this before?

I am assuming I would need an FXS adaptor with auto answer enabled?

The end result would be for a user to dial an extn number or code to page through the PA system from their desk phone or web client

I know there are devices such as the Snom PA1 which can intergrate a PA Amplifier in.

This is probably your best option if you can (or just setup a SIP paging group if you want multiple endpoints) rather than going down the FXS gateway route. FXS can be a bit hit and miss and certain analogue endpoints may not work very well in this scenario.

While the PA1 is an excellent device, more typically you would use an analog FXS gateway. The gateway connects to 3CX over SIP, and connects to the paging system via analog. You don't really need to do anything special with the gateway in terms of "auto-answer" because the paging system is configured to auto-answer. Your gateway will be assigned an extension that your users can dial. When dialed, the user will typically hear a beep indicating the paging system is ready for them to speak. With a supported gateway, this should be fairly easy.

It is really going to depend on what the input to your Adastra PA amplifier is. If it is a phone line input then , yes , you could connect an ATA. However, if it is a low level audio input, then you are going to require some sort of interface between the phone line and the PA amp. This could be as simple as a transformer, capacitor and some resistors, but may require a device such as this...
