A client of mine wants attended transfer instead of a blind transfer. We're utilizing BLFs for the transfer destinations.

If during the attended transfer the desired extension wants the call sent to their voicemail, how can the attendant send the call to voicemail without a bunch of extra steps? Right now the only way I'm aware of is that the attendant does another transfer and the target has to reject the call. That seems like some unnecessary steps.

The voicemail dial code is default "4". So to transfer to extension's 123 voicemail, transfer the call to "4123"

Dial codes can be found in the 3cx custom parameters section of settings.

Sure, but that's not utilizing the BLFs.

You don't want a BLF as you aren't monitoring an extension at that point. Custom speed dial with the voicemail prefix + extension

They do want BLFs for all of the other functionality of BLF.

So now I need one for normal BLF function and one as a line speed dial, doubling my requirements.

Yep. I was saying you don't want BLF for the voicemail transfer button. I don't know of any system that can overload a single button in such fashion so that's pretty common. I think some systems might have a separate VM transfer button that you can press before hitting the BLF button. But yes we typically setup 2 side cars with BLF and one and VM Xfer on the other.

Hrm. Is there any reasonable feature request that we can put together here or are we just stuck with two sets of buttons?

So the problem with requests like this is unlike Avaya or Mitel 3CX doesn't make the handsets and behavior can differ. 3CX likes to only put in features that work across everything supported. I'm reasonably certain you can web into most phones and create a button that is basically a prefix button which will will just send a DTMF '4' and then you press the BLF key and that should work. Then at least you could put the button type for that brand/model in your feature request. But I think 3CX is really pushing eveyone to the web client where you can do all that there.

Web client for the functionality or for everything?

Either or. I was thinking just for the main admin/receptionist person but there's no reason why any user couldn't use it.

Sorry, I meant regarding, "But I think 3CX is really pushing eveyone to the web client where you can do all that there." Are you meaning 3CX is pushing everyone to use the web client for advanced functionality or for all functionality (replacing the phone).

3CX is eventually phasing out the Windows client.

Not sure what phone model you are using, but if Fanvil, the phone itself has the option to set a Function key as "Key Event", then choose Subtype "Prefix", and set the Value to *4, with label Send2Voicemail.

Then you just have 1 key that adds the prefix to send to voicemail, and the user then types the extension number they are transferring to voicemail. If they just spoke with the user they should know the extension. Unfortunately you can't hit this key and then the BLF key, again as mentioned, BLF is it's own thing.
