In the past when we did training for new employees we used a Yealink phone with an extra headset. Now that our sales staff is working from home and using the 3CX Windows client I am trying to find a way to do this. In our situation, the trainer answers the call and the trainee listens in. The only way I can think of is to have the trainer immediately conference in the trainee on a call, but this is less than ideal. I also considered the the barge/listen feature but it would require the trainee be a supervisor.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Keith

Barge/Listen in is specifically designed for this scenario. Your only other options would be call recording for them to listen in after the fact, or do use 3CX web meeting with the call on speaker maybe?

The problem with barge/listen is that they want the trainer to pick up and handle the call with the trainee listening in. In this scenario my understanding is that the trainee would need to be a supervisor in order to listen in.

That is correct. Making a specific group for each trainer/trainee pairing would limit the scope of what that person could do.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

What cobaltit said is what you need.
Create a new Extension Group and in this group place just the trainer/trainee. For the trainee, just for this group, give them the appropriate rights and this will allow them to do listen in on the trainer extension, without being able to do this to any other extension.
