Hi,

Trying to restore a backup of the 3CX database. We've selected the correct backup and hit 'restore database' on the 3CX Phone System Backup and Restore Tool. It tries to process the command and then fails, giving us the following message: 'The connection to the database was refused. See left panel for further details.' There is no further details in the left panel, just an empty box.

We've tried starting the 3CX PhoneSystem Database Server (which has started) and the 3CX PhoneSystem Configuration Service, this processes and once again fails. When it fails we get this message: 'The 3CX PhoneSystem Configuration Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.

The events log isnt flagging anything up either and we have seen on here (http://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/backup-restore-troubleshooting/) we need to ensure that the services are all started but we can't get the 3CX PhoneSystem Configuration Service to start!

Thanks, Hope someone can help!

Was/is the back-up stored on the same machine?

Was there some pre-existing issue that caused you to do a restore?

If 3CX isn't fully restarting after a re-boot of the machine, and you've run out of options, a complete removal of 3CX, reload of a new 3CX download, and then applying the back-up, might be required.

Just to be safe, copy any and all previous backups onto another storage device before attempting anything.

Hi leejor,

The backup is stored on the same machine, in a compressed folder.

No previous issue, just setting it up on a new server.

So...the problem is on a new server (piece of hardware) using the backup from a working system? If that is the case, then perhaps there is some sort of hardware issue with the new server.

You say the backup is in a "compressed folder" - do you mean a Windows Compressed Folder?
Perhaps there is an issue with those types of folders (if that is what is happening).

On the existing machine, do a backup to a USB stick. Walk it over to the new machine and try a restore.

you will also want to copy your comppete ProgramData\3cx folder if you have modified the templates or any other settings, they don't seem to be copied.

Jasit.
