Hello all. I am new to 3CX and have tried to search for this answer, but have not had any luck.

In my call logs I see some entries that have a [V] in front of them. What does that mean?

Thanks!

Jeff

This is what "Comcast" started to add to the phone number to show that the phone call is "authentic" and not spoofed

Hmmm ok. I am not using Comcast and some of the test calls I have made have not traversed Comcast that I am aware of. I wonder if other carriers are flagging it somehow. If that is the case it is good to know that it is a verified caller, however it is confusing some users seeing it on the phones caller ID display.

3CX isn't adding it, it's coming from your provider or it was in the caller-id when your provider received the call. It has to do with some providers STIR/SHAKEN implementation.

Thats fine. Anyway to remove that from the caller ID that the user sees on their phone?

Hi @Jeff.H,

This can only be removed from the provider's side. You'll need to give them a call.

Wouldn't you be able reformat the inbound caller id in the SIP trunk settings to include if the [V] exists and remove it?
[V](..........)(.*) - replace with \2

Hi @RFCENGR,

It would depend on what is being sent by the provider and via what field. If the [V] is in the name that the provider sends, it isn't possible. If it is in the number, then it is possible. You'll need to check what they send.

Also for the [V] you'll want to start with (...)(.*) and replace pattern \2

It would appear as if it's in the name itself. I have tried using both of the above mentioned ways and it just changes what shows as the number.

Funny thing is that this just stated after switching to 3CX. Same carrier and trunk setting with Flowroute as I was using on Incredible PBX.

Flowroute recently started adding this to the From:DisplayName as well. Prior to this it was only in the PAI header but now its in both SIP headers so its hard to avoid. You could set the PBX up to not read that field at all but then you would miss out on all the caller names so I would not recommend it.
On the other hand its good to know that your calls are coming from a verified source.

Yeah, it is what it is. Just have to train the end users.
