Hello,
A customer of ours operates in Germany and Switzerland. He has a SIP Trunk in both countries. Each employee has one extension and a DID in both countries/SIP Accounts.
For example the Extension 040 would have the German phone number +49 12345678 40 and the Swiss phone number +41 98765432 40 where +49 12345678 and +41 98765432 are the base numbers of the trunks of the countries Germany and Switzerland respectively.
I can put one phone number in the Caller ID field of each extension.
What I would like to do is define a caller ID for when the German SIP Trunk is used and a different caller ID for when the Swiss SIP Trunk is used. Is this possible without defining an outbound rule for each extension?
Is it possible to work with spaceholders and variables in the Caller ID block of the outbound rule?

Thanks in advance for your help and have a wonderful week.

David

As you probably know, you can set the caller ID number on an outbound rule, and this number will be used by every call that utilizes that rule. But if you need to display a unique caller ID number for each employee, and the number is different when calling Germany vs Switzerland, then you only have the following options:

1. Create outbound rules for each employee
2. Have the employee change their caller ID number before each call

Given that the employee only needs to swap between two unique numbers, a tool like 3CX Caller ID may offer little benefit since you can change your ID from within the webclient interface. But if you have more complex needs, or many more numbers to choose from, then you may want to take a closer look at our tool.
