Caller ID for a specific extension displays the correct number but with spaces.
Instead of displaying the number like 604-275-2273
it shows +60 4 275 2273. The Caller ID ends up showing as if the call if coming in from Malaysia.
Happens only for when one specific extension dials out.
The caller ID number is set to the same number for all extensions and it works fine for all other extensions in the system.

Have looked at SIP Trunks > Caller ID field : has only the default caller ID filled in, no Inbound and Outbound sections.
Outbound rules for dialling out has prepend +1

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.
Running on self hosted version with 3cx up to date.

You are talking about the DID number, set as the external caller ID in the extension settings? Do you use spaces in your datafill? If it is just one extension, then it would appear to be something, someone has entered somewhere, possibly the device itself? In many cases, the recieving device will format (add spaces where appropriate) the number based on the region it was designed to operate in. Are multiple destinations (landlines/mobiles) receiving this same number format? Have you checked what is being sent, in the 3CX Activity Log?

Hi,

You will have to provide some additional information. We don't know what provider/phone/extension settings you are using so it could be something there. Like @leejor alluded to, you will have to test with other extensions too, or use the webclient rather than a deskphone to see if the behavior changes and hopefully track it down.

It may also depend on who the recipient of the call is, so you should look at what your PBX is sending out when you make the outbound call. You may be sending it correctly and perhaps it is the other side that reformats.

Thank you for the responses. I was testing with the 3cx app and the desk phone and they were both having the same issue. Since this was happening only for one extension I compared it again with one that works. The extension with the issue had Outbound Caller ID defined, others dint. Once I made the Caller ID field blank under the extension it started showing the correct Caller ID when dialling out.
Im assuming it picks up the Caller ID to use from under the SIP trunk settings.

In the past, I have found that (in most cases), the first place that caller ID is "encountered", will be the one used. So...in the device itself, in the 3CX extension settings, then in the trunk settings
