in other PBX I can setup when outgoing calls company name and phone number

is the 3CX support it?

if so how do I configure it so it will show the company name and phone number?

Hi @ronenba You will need to add the contact to the 3CX company directory. You can do this via the Web Client > 'Contacts' section. You can also bulk import contacts via the management console. Check out this guide

sorry I will rephrase: when I dial outgoing calls from 3CX it shows the number I setup for the extension for example 905-555-5555

but not the company name (our company name) for example I would like it to show
company name: 3CX (example)
phone number: 905-555-55555

so when I call anyone from the PBX they will see :
905-555-5555
3CX

is it possible to do that? sending name and number

I'm confused. I think what @Keith Winhall_3CX is suggesting is for INBOUND caller ID information. I believe @ronenba is asking about OUTBOUND caller ID information presented to the people the 3CX user is dialing?

I should know the intricacies of how this works under the covers in 3CX, but I believe it is true that (provided your SIP trunks are configured correctly), when an extension makes an outbound call, their specific caller ID name and number are presented. However, if the caller ID information is not specified at the extension level, then the global caller ID name is used. This would be defined at your SIP carrier. Therefore, the only thing you can change in 3CX is the number, not the name.

correct I am asking about the OUTBOUND caller ID information presented, it is showing the number I am using for the extension but not the name for example on FreePBX extension 500 setup Outbound CID "YappALot" <905xxxxxx> and when dialing out it shows the name and the number

so I am asking is it possible within 3CX and if so how?

Yes its possible but it depends on a few things. First on the provider you are using and if that provider supports this functionality.
Then on what you want to send. You want a common company name for all calls or a different name for each user?

I want to setup a common name to all, where about you set it up on the 3CX ?

Try the following: Navigate to your trunk settings and go to "Outbound Parameters". Find the "From:Display Name" header and switch to "Custom Field". Then add your company name

Save your settings and give it a go. We cannot guarantee this will work but you can try it.

Note: Make a note of the initial settings so you can revert if this does not work or if it causes any other issues.

If you want all calls to show your "main" number, you can put that number in the outbound rule that is used. Using more than one outbound rule, with a prefix to select, allows people to choose to send their DID, or the main number.

Caller ID name can be a bit tricky as the terminating provider can substitute another name, if they are so inclined. Your provider may also be able to add a name of your choosing.

Doesn't work, i just tried, it shows only the phone number

Have you confirmed, with your provider, that they support this?

Check that your provider does support this and if they do ask them in which SIP header they expect the name to be sent.

they say they do support

"
For PBX systems we support callerID number passthrough, just set the option in
your subaccount settings to "I have a system capable of sending it's own CID"
and configure your 3cx according to our wiki page
https://wiki.voip.ms/article/3CX_Phone_System#Outbound_Caller_ID

Outbound display name (callerID name) is supported only for calls to Canada,
calls to USA require a DID number with a CNAM entry to show a display name."

See this if you're in Canada: https://wiki.voip.ms/article/3CX_Phone_System#Outbound_Caller_ID_Name_for_calls_to_Canada

In the US, you'll need to register the CNAM.

Perhaps if you provided your location, and the name of your provider, someone else, also using them, has already solved this issue, and can offer the solution.

So make sure you have the correct settings in your provider portal and try again. You can confirm that the PBVX is sending the correct info by using the activity log orby performing a packet capture and checking what is being sent.
