Solved Callers who transfer out of Voicemail or other menus will be forwarded here

the option "Callers who transfer out of Voicemail or other menus will be forwarded here" in the settings > pbx area only gives me a choice of extensions. is it possible for callers whom elect to exit menus or voicemail to be transferred to a ring group instead of a single extension?

Hello @Shawn

That option essentially defines the extension of the operator used globally for the PBX.
Now what you can do, is to create a dummy extension and set this as the operator in the PBX settings. Then in the forwarding rules of that extension, set it to forward to the Ring Group if not registered.

thank you for the reply. just to make sure, so the operator extension in pbx settings serves no other purpose but to specify a place where callers that transfer out of menus and voicemail wind up?

making this suggested change will not affect anything elsewhere? I've already created a dummy extension for an operator and have it forwarding to a ring group when unregistered. the pbx settings operator is now set to forward callers to this dummy extension when they drop out of menus or voicemail.

this unregistered dummy operator extension shows up on the iOS and android clients but not on the windows pc client. anyway to hide this from the iOS and android clients?

Have you created User Groups? Is the operator extension in one of those groups, visible to some users?

thank leejor, i guess 3cx sets up a default group, i renamed it and removed the dummy operator extension from that list and it's not on the presence tab of the mobile clients any more. i also see the new group name.

i was experimenting a while back and had setup a paging zone group and noticed that it showed up in the presence tab but could not figure out why. now i know.
