Solved Can a VOIP account be used as a SIP trunk?

Hi,
I was wondering if I have a VOIP account that works with a generic VOIP client, ie: I have the VOIP server IP, username/password,
is there a way to configure the VOIP account into the 3CX PBX as a SIP trunk?

It should work just fine. Just use the Generic template. Some tweaking may be necessary.

Strange! when i created a generic gateway device, i'm not able to change the SIP user ID. It's stuck to 1000x. The option is greyed out. Is there a way to enter the SIP user ID?

I'm using the debian version of 3CX. If I know where the trunk's SIP user ID is stored, I can edit the file.

I found that if I chose a valid SIP vendor like MyRepublic from SG, I could change the SIP user ID and password. It works !!!

Gateways are different and are provisioned in a different way.

Glad to see you got it working. For future reference there is a Generic template under "Generic" you can use.
