I seem to recall reading that the new version of 3cx can have multiple phones registered to the same extension.
Is this possible in V5.1? If so how does it work? Do both phones ring when the extension is called? Are there some special steps or setup that needs to be done to implement this?

Thanks again

There is no way to register 2 devices using the same account. That is not a 3CX limitation, that's how SIP works.
To get that behavior, what you can do is to create a ring group, and add all the extensions you want to that ring group.

Sorry, I didn't saw that new functionality. That's true, I tested it here.
Just register two devices using the same credentials, and that's it.
Sorry again, I'll try to read a little bit more next time :)

Good morning,

That is great news :)

I had been doing it with multiple extensions and ring groups for clients that wanted a phone to ring at the office and at home.

Thanks again

Yes I have also had this working

So, does both ring at the same time if you call the extension?

Yes did for me

That is the beauty of sip, not a special config of 3cx, but generally available in all voip implementations i have used.

I now have three phones registered to one extension!

One Wifi WIP330
One Desk Phone SPA941
One External Phone SPA941 (at home)

When my extension rings, all three phones respond....

No need to divert phones to external numbers now :D

yes, work pretty well and its a usefull option
regards
