Cannot Ping FQDN Externally

Im having issues with users setting up the 3cx app on mobile devices.

Internally if i ping the FQDN for my 3cx server it responds with 127.0.0.1 so its saying its the local host.

I dont get a response externally, does 3CX automatically assign my public IP to its ***.3cx.co.uk A record?

Yes, if you are using 3CX FQDN it will update the IP address.

Does nslookup ***.3cx.co.uk point to your wan IP address ?

Management console - Settings -> Network Settings , is you wan IP address correct.

Do you have a static public IP ?
Are you using your own DNS server on your LAN ?

Internally on the smartphone or internally on the 3CX system itself? On the 3CX system itself it should report 127.0.0.1 as the IP for the 3CX FQDN. How it response elsewhere is dependent on how you have DNS configured.

3CX updates the FQDN to either the static IP you set in 3CX during installation (or if you changed it after) or dynamically if you configured the system with a dynamic IP. 3CX has no control over ICMP responses as that's a firewall issue. 3CX is only handling DNS in this case. It's common for edge devices not to respond to ICMP and 3CX (or the app) doesn't care about that. As long as it is resolving correctly then then that isn't an issue.

A good starting point is to run the firewall checker on your PBX and ensure everything passes.

Also you did not mention what issues the users have exactly. They cannot provision? register? make internal calls? make external calls?

Please look at the above for the ports/firewall and if you still have issues share some additional information on your PBX, setup and versions of apps
