We have three extensions with names of phone 1, phone 2, phone 3
I want the rename these to the individual using the phone, but I keep getting and error message
500
Name cannot begin with the '1' character, hexadecimal value 0x31. Line 1, position 25.

I think this is an XML error, is there anyway around it ?

Hi,

You can only rename your extensions from the management console, not the phone.

If you want, post a screenshot of your error so we can better understand what is happening

sorry - not clear, I want to change the name of extension to that of the phone user, but am getting the error given in the management console ... I am also getting the same error on the phones screen in management console and it then wont show any phones.

screen capture coming up

What version is you PBX now? Have you updated to the latest version 16.0.6.655 ?

Hi Mark,

Can you update your PBX until your reach the current version, and tell us whether you still face the issue there?

Hi John,

Yes I'll get that organised for this evening.

Hi,

we are now on version 16.0.6.655

If I go into extensions on the dashboard, I can edit all extensions bar these two

if I try I get this error

if I go into phones on the dashboard I get
1601486097472.png
clicking OK gives me a blank screen, the system all works, bar anyone being able to see the extensions I can't edit.1601486126973.png

as an update to this - I rebooted the 3CX Server and the Management Console service will now not start. As I understand it physical phones are working - soft phones are not.

can anyone help?

Hi Mark,

Do you have any inbound rules that point a DID to those specific extensions?

If so, try to delete the rule and then see if you can now edit the extension

Hi John,

apologies for radio silence, we have been working on this with Charalambos and are 99.9% resolved now - just waiting on the end user to factory reset some phones.

this can be marked closed / solved.

No worries Mark, sure thing.
