I recently ported my phone lines over to Centurylink / Lumen and there were issues with the 3CX template. I wanted to post the changes I had to make so others don't have the hassle I had.

I was having an issue calling out. The calls were timing out, to fix that I had to change Outbound Parameters -> User Agent : Text String to Custom Field and leave it blank.

The other issue I was having was that on incoming calls there was no outgoing audio. Clink said that the 3CX response was providing G711 and G729, but not choosing one. Once I removed G729 leaving only G711 it worked.

Hope this helps.

Hi @cloidhamer and thank you for the information.

Please make sure that you are using a CenturyLink/Lumen registration based trunk as IP based trunks were not tested by us and therefore not supported.
I tried a few calls with our CenturyLink trunks and the template works without issue.

I am using a registration based trunk and used your installation instructions from here, but the additional steps I detailed above were required to make it work.

We will need to perform some additional testing since our trunks work without any additional modifications. Thank you for reporting.

yeah, I am also having trouble here. Just ported my numbers to CenturyLink and didn't notice the issues at first.

Ie could not call out.

Calls comes in and the internal person hangs up the remote call doesn't end.

Have an email out to my system designer.

Did you find out anything in your internal testing ?

C-Link support had me add the following which now allows me to call and end a call for outbound.

Put your main number in P-Asserted Identity : User Part
P-Asserted Identity : Host Part had to add voip.centurylink.com

C-Link then told me to do the same for inbound and my inbound calls would ending correctly when ending a call from 3cx and the remote party would then disconnect instead of stay connected.

How do I add the above for inbound so it ends the call correctly?

C-Link support moved me over to another proxy ip address, but the above still needs to be set for outbound calls to work correctly, but inbound will now hang up.

Hi,
Just to add my experience with CenturyLink in June 2020.
Same thing with Codec, had to remove G729 and only use G.711 and that worked. Tech doing the port was able to see this issue.
The connection with them is Register/Account based and no other changes were made.
When bringing up the line, we could not get it to work. Thankfully the CL engineers were able to figure the circuit they had provisioned was not correct. Moved me to a new circuit and all was working.
As part of the package, they provided a backup SIP Trunk, so we have 2 trunks coming in, which was unexpected.
Dealing with their engineers was good. Just don't ask me about their people doing the logistics. o_O

Did you use the CentutyLink template to add the trunk to the PBX? If you did then you should get the same result.

"LineNumber" external number of line is your main trunk number and "GWHostPort" gateway/provider host/port is your registrar value which in the template is specified as "voip.centurylink.com".

So you either did not use the 3CX included template or you made changes that you shouldn't have.

Internal testing showed that the settings included in the template are correct and we also spoke to CenturyLink that confirmed that only the name has changed for now.

I did, but it was probably changed during the call. I recreated with the Lumen template with the new server proxy address and everything worked correctly with template. I believe the issue was the carrier graded NAT server they gave me at 1st "100.64.0.0/10". We have since switched to a public IP address on the centurylink interface and changed the following settings to correct the SIP packets.

Public IP in SIP VIA Header "CenturyLink IP address provided by there router"

Alternative Proxy "CenturyLink IP address provided by there router" as audio was going over the data interface.

Select which IP to use in 'Contact' (SIP) and 'Connection'(SDP) fields "CenturyLink IP address provided by there router"

also added a static route for centurylink sip server so the 3cx server would send out the correct interface.

I still had to remove G729 or I don't get audio. Which is wired as lumen has both options enabled under my portal.
