Change Public IP address

Hi,


We are using an on-premise 3cx installation.
License is Professional and the FQDN used is our own and not 3cx provided.
We are planning to move the office to a different location.

I believe the Static IP that is being used with 3cx will change with this new move.
In that case, what should be the steps to change the public IP?

Is it straightforward change by going to the Network settings?
Can I change the IP directly?
Should i first change the IP to dynamic before the office move takes place and once it has been moved then provide the new static IP?

Or are there any additional settings or changes that has to be made from our end?

Also, does it take 6 hours for the DNS replication? We are using a Split-DNS setup.

You just change the public ip under Nerwork settings

You will have to change your dns record for the fqdn to the new ip address, as for the time to replicate is down to the settings within your dns control panel - ttl settings

You will off course have to change your firewall to reflect the external IP address change

I see this I just shake my head. If you don't know how to change your own DNS why use your own DNS. 3CX FQDN just works and it's one less moving piece.

How else would I get a nice friendly web address for my softphones like ringring.mycompany.com /s

If you have your own domain you probably have a website on it also, whoever provides, manages or runs your website should (with any luck) know how to modify the DNS or at the very least who manages the domain. It would be the same procedure if your web server changed it's static IP especially if it's internally hosted

The FQDN never shows up on the soft phones except under the account section. Never had any client complain about using a 3CX FQDN. But to each their own.

Thank you. Yes, we have a separate team that handles DNS and other network settings.
I will check with them.
