Back in the good old days you could upload your own default voicemail greeting for all users by simply overwriting the "record_your_message.wav" with your custom file. In V20 that simple process doesn't work. In fact, nothing works or at least for me nothing works. I have copied the default prompt set and uploaded a custom greeting. I have applied that newly created prompt set to all departments. I have restarted the services. I have rebooted the server. Every time you call any extension, you get the built-in 3CX greeting that includes the "or press star for the operator" message that I am DESPRATELY trying to avoid. If 3CX would give us the option to disable pressing star to go to the operator this wouldn't be nearly the issue, but that's a whole separate conversation. Back to my original issue, has anyone been able to get a custom prompt set to work? I've done everything I have been able to find in documentation and in the forums but I cannot get it to work. Am I missing something?

2 things to look for
1 in Parameters search for ACPRMSET, this will show the folder of the currently active prompts set, be sure it is the same as your new prompts set
2 make sure the new prompts folder and all files are owned by phonsystem as well as the group

Just a heads up for 3CX Staff @NicholasP_3CX , typo in the prompts SetInfo.xml
Prompt ID
RECYAMSG
File
record_your_message.wav
Description
"<I>Record your message and press pound or press start to contact the operator</I>". Inviting intonation.
Should be
"<I>Record your message and press pound or press star to contact the operator</I>". Inviting intonation.

Creating a prompt set : https://www.3cx.com/docs/localize-promptsets/

Once you create a prompt set you will be able to set this as the default prompt set of the system.

You would then need to go. Multi edit your users and assign them the new prompt set to the one you just created. (This might be the step you have omitted to do)

Just a side note on the prompt sets for voicemail.

If you are testing this internally, the prompt set of the user calling will be played, not the destination prompt set of the user being called. Why you might ask?

If for example I have Greek prompt sets and I am calling an English colleague I will hear the prompts in MY LANGUAGE!

However, if an external caller is calling they will hear the user who is being called prompt set.

Yes, Nicholas, that is the step I missed. It seems a little counter-intuitive to create a new prompt set and then still have to go manually set every single extension, but as long as I can accomplish my goal, I can handle it.

Interesting point about disabling operator extension option in voice mail.

You can also just make it go to a dummy extension.

That is true, but we are a 9 rooftop automotive dealer group and share the single 3CX instance. If a customer presses star at a voicemail prompt and it goes to a dummy extension, and they leave a voicemail at that dummy extension, someone would have to monitor that dummy mailbox and there would be no way to determine which voicemail belongs to which dealership. I know that not all 3CX users are multi-rooftop businesses and I can't speak on the behalf of all 3CX users, but for me, having the ability to simply disable the "press star for the operator" option would be huge.

We would very much appreciate it if a new parameter could be implemented to deactivate this “Press star to contact the operator”. The parameter should control both whether the star key has a function and whether the star is announced when standard announcement is played.

The operator extension provides an exit point for someone if they inadvertently end up in a voicemail box.

However, with a new default prompt you should be able to easily assign this to users and system extensions as well.
