Solved Changing Public IP and removing LAN IP

Hello,

I've found some info on changing public IP's by just doing a restore, but couldn't seem to find anything about removing the LAN IP.

So we're moving our 3cx to a hosted setup, and we will no longer need a LAN IP address.

If we do a backup and restore onto the the new pbx install, and choose not to have a LAN IP, will the phones still work? i see some settings for instance on a 3cx soft phone, it has a LAN IP listed and our external FQDN.

Will this cause issues? Will i have to redeploy all phones?

So you will always have a LAN IP unless you are talking about putting your 3CX on a public IP with no firewall in front. Your LAN IP is just going to change. Your will still reference your LAN IP for things like VPN connected devices or tunnel connected devices. If your devices are using the FQDN to find 3CX then they should still be able to find it. When you restore your backup it will see the local (LAN) IP of your hosted instance as well as determine your public IP and update the configuration of the PBX. It will not reach out to the endpoints to update the configurations. That will happen when the devices re-provision.

Yes, that's exactly what we were planning. Public IP with no firewall in front anymore.

All devices have been provisioned through the 3cx SBC.

So all phones should pick up because its through FQDN already anyway, then i just re-provision them?

I don't want to reset and re-do over 60 phones at 4 locations.

I would recommend creating a backup of the current system with no licence and FQDN information and use that to restore it to the cloud instance. The backup will not include any networking information and will detect the new config upon installation. If your phones are provisioned using an SBC then you should not have to reconfigure your phones.

Thanks guys, everything seems to be good. I had to reconfigure the SBC's as they had some local IP information, which i just changed to the FQDN IP address.
