Doing internal testing I notice chat logs are still logging when chat is disabled.

I am then able to read chats after I enable the feature.

is this a glitch?

can anyone else confirm this happens to them?

if i'm not bad in V16 SP3 should be a fix for lots of recorded things pbx keeps when you delete an extension or reuse same for new person.
For now the only way is to force deletion using purge button from dashboard

I know but chats shouldnt be getting logged if its disabled. I'm not talking about extension recycling

Sorry, I'm off topic, I do not know answer what you're asking for, you may have found a bug

Hi @kieferschild

Chats are server based, so they need to be kept somewhere in order to have chat functionality across your devices.

The option on the management console comes with a warning, that it will allow you to monitor business conversations. Much like audio recordings, they are there and if you choose to enable and listen to them you must warn people first. Otherwise, both the chat and the recordings feature can be disabled altogether. If nothing is ever written/recorded, then the admin can't access it.

If you go ahead and confirm, then you will be able to view them but you should check if your local legislation allows this before you chose to go ahead. Before you look at the logs, you can purge the existing ones and inform users that the conversations can be monitored.

I understand this can be a sensitive matter of course, in this case it you will have to disable chats altogether from the general settings and purge anything stored so far (including backups).
