I see that this same issue has been discused here -> https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/company-phonebook-not-working-on-cisco-7940.32303/ but I didn't find any solution to this and that thread is blocked.
We are currently facing this problem on all Cisco IP Phones 7940 and 7941 we have provisioned.
Our corporate directory has more than 200 entries, as a result the cisco_phonebook.xml on the provisioning directory has the same amount of contacts.
When I hit the directory button on the phone, it shows blank screen, no contacts, no "search option" nor "next" or "back" buttons.
If I delete entries on the XML and reduce it to 32 or less it shows those 32 contacts OK.
Anyone has a workaround on this?
