I have a customer who is using a Panasonic KX-TGD310E handset connected to a CISCO ATA191.
The ATA is connected successfully with 3CX and receives calls as it should.
The issue is with making calls.
The SIP trunk is working perfectly OK but it would appear that the Panasonic handset is either not communicating correctly with the ATA or the ATA is not communicating with 3CX when it comes to making a call.

The customer hears a dialling tone but when a number is dialled there is a series of short beeps and the call does not connect. In fact the call attempt does not register on 3CX. Again, this indicates that the issue is with either the handset or ATA. Would the dialling plan on the ATA have anything to do with it?

Does anyone have experience of using these Cisco ATA's or can help shed any light on the problems?

Kind regards.

Not certain of what the short beeps would be, but, yes, the dial plan of the ATA will make a difference. It could be another setting in the ATA as well.
If you use another set, with the ATA, do you still have the same issue? That would be a way of confirming that it is the ATA and not the Panasonic phone. I assume that you've checked the 3CX Activity Log to be certain that the ATA is not sending an Invite to 3CX. You may want to check the dialplan to be certain the numbers you are dialing are accepted by the plan. Do any dialed numbers work?

Most, if not all Cisco/Linksys devices use the same dialplan syntax.

There are a number of other sites that also provide examples, if you do a search.

This is the dial plan that is currently active.

(*xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)

From my limited knowledge, this appears to be OK.

Could this be a router / firewall issue?

UPDATE:

The customer has a 4G connection via EE through a TP-Link MR6400 Router. Has anyone experience of configuring this router ? As previously mentioned, incoming calls are working fine but outgoing calls are not registering on the 3CX system at all.

If the ATA receives calls, then I assume that it is registered with 3CX, which means that it is able to reach the PBX with the current server settings. So...it seems odd that using the same settings, outgoing calls are not reaching the PBX.

The Cisco default dialplan will support "normal" PSTN dialing in North America, with the last part (all X's) covering just about anything. Still confuse about the beeps you hear as that is normally used to signal something like a PIN input, although without hearing them......

Did you try using a standard analogue phone, with the ATA?

SOLVED

The issue, believe it or not, was the FQDN was not translating properly, so it was replaced with the 3CX IP address and all works fine.

It's the small things isn't it !!

Thank you all for your interest.
Stay safe.
