My apologies if this is not the correct category to post this in, this is NOT for video conferencing so I didn't think it should be there.

I was just notified that when using our conference call system through 3cx, sometimes it is half-duplex... meaning that only one person can speak at a time. I have tested it myself and not been able to duplicate the issue but our VP is very frustrated with it and swears there is something wrong with 3cx. I figured it was worth posting to see if anyone had any ideas?

  • 3CX Version, 16.0.6.655
  • Server OS, Debian 9
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? Hosted in Google
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES

Hi @Erik Nathe,

What device are your users using in conference? Have you tried to set it up where all are connecting with the Web Client?

Also, I'd suggest upgrading to v18 as it is now our latest production version.

No specific device is being used. Just the standard phone call in conference. Sometimes the user may be initiating the conference call from their desk phone and others they may call in from their iPhone. (Side note on V18: I have been unable to update to V18 and was just getting ready to submit a ticket, rather that bring that into this inquiry I think it best to keep the 2 issues seperate)

Hi @Erik Nathe,

Some devices will naturally act as half-duplex, such as the mobile app on speaker and any kind of speaker device with mic, they'll disable the mic as audio is coming through to mitigate echo.

Can you conference from web clients only and check if this is happening?
