Hello,

chat during web meetings are very important for our client. But it's not usable since messages are restricted to about 450 characters. How can we fix it? In regular 3cx chats one message limit is 20000 chars which is ok, but in web meetings it's too limited.

We use on-premise 3cx installations with Pro and Ent licenses.

I'll be very grateful for any help on this issue.

Hi,
on cloud webmeeting servers we cannot have the same chat message limit of the pbx.
And for sure we cannot have 20000.
It will be different for onboard mcu, where this parameter will be configurable. It will be released quite soon.
For now. which is a reasonable limit the customer can accept?

Thanks for your reply. The best would be to have it as big as possible, but at least it should be about 4-5 times more than now - 2000-3000. It's average amount of one A4 page text, and somehow comparable to competitors.

Hi,
we will put 4096 in the next update.
Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you, that's sounds awesome! Grateful for your attention and support!

@jpmMDT What's your use case for 20000 characters in chat? That's several pages worth of A4 text compressed within a tiny chat window.

20000 is the limit in 3cx regular chat (not in webmeeitngs). So it's seen ok in window. And good for clients since they do not hit that limit usually.

Hi there,

Do you have a real life use case for 20000 characters in chat?

Other platforms having it isn't something we can consider a use case here. Why would you want to paste 20000 characters in chat? Why not use a Google Doc or a .txt file instead? 20000 characters is several pages worth of text and it doesn't make sense to paste in chat.

Regardless, i suggest you head over to the ideas section of our forum and make your idea/suggestion known with as much detail as possible. If this is something that makes sense and a lot of other people also agree with your idea, we'll consider implementing it.

Dear 3cx Team, we do not request you to set it to 20000 - we received a reply that webmeetings chat message limit could be set to 4096 symbols on next update - that will fix our problem! Please confirm if this fix is planned to be added.
Thanks.

Hi,

We cannot confirm this. We have our reasons to have set the chat limit to what it is. I suggest you open a thread in the ideas section of our forum. If the idea gets traction, we'll consider implementing it.

When opening a new thread in the ideas section, please ensure to add your usecase e.g why you want the limit increased to 4096 characters.

So what your colleague is not true?

Some real world example:
when CEO discuss with upper management part of contract for client, or CTO discuss important website post update with PM, or management discussing with sales proposal for client - they send a half A4 page of text or similar to chat. And imagine their frustration when pasted text are cut to 450 symbols and the rest of text just goes nowhere. Big boses will not count symbols or play with txt files (especially on mobile devices) - they dont have time for that. Yes, nobody will send several pages of text, but a half or one page - easy)
So if it's possible to increase it to 1k - that would be better then now for sure;
if to 2k symbols - much better and will cover most of usage cases;
if set to 4k - I think the issue will be resolved.

As i suggested, please open a new thread suggesting this feature in the ideas section of our forum. Locking this thread.
