As we are moving from a different PABX to 3CX, we naturally have existing extensions that conflict with 3CX's system extensions. In our case, 3 extensions (700, 777 and 888) are conflicting. I've read in a post that there is a way to change these system extensions and after searching for them under Settings -> Parameters, was able to change them but when I try to add users, the system still rejects them (I've already restarted all services after changing).

We're trying to avoid changing these 3 extensions as they are Heads of Departments that have their extensions printed on cards and other material over the past 15yrs that will take time to "move".

Pretty sure no 3CX system extensions can't be changed

That is really unfortunate. I do not think it is advisable to change these system extensions even if you can (just my opinion). But, if you want to go down that road, you can create an extension using any number with the 3CX Call Control API.

While I agree with @VoIPTools about "I do not think it is advisable to change these system extensions" I think accessing the 3CX Call Control API is not the way to go, as there is currently no 3CX API information available at this time, accessing the API is not the answer, your best bet is to reassign extensions so that they do not conflict.

Hi,

System extensions 777 and 888 cannot be changed, and I would strongly advise against changing parameters - the warning is there for good reason:

Conference extension 700 can be changed via Settings > Conference:

Thanks all for the replies. Maybe I am confusing two things here .. I saw the ability to change the conferencing extension but maybe this is not considered as a "system extension" like 777 and 888 are which is causing the issue for me.

I'll file this under Ideas when I get enough points.
