We are evaluating the web client to replace the windows client. I tried replacing ringtone.wav as we do with the windows client but chrome informed me the extension was corrupt and forced a re-install. Is there a way to customize the ringtone using the chrome extension? This is really useful for us as we are in a manufacturing environment where users might not be in front of there PC but can hear it ringing. Having distinct ringtones means users can tell which PC is ringing.

Hi Richard,

At the moment this is not customizable, but we will consider it in our future plans as the Webclient will be our main focus and it will be getting more features over time.

We are looking to lower the volume of the ring tone and not change it. Is that possible?
Basically, our team are seeing a problem where the ring tone is too loud and when they lower the volume on the computer it also lowers the volume of calls so that they are unusable.

Like @JohnS_3CX said above, I'm sure it's considered because you're not the only one to ask for this. Extensive audio settings are needed if we are to ever drop deskphones and use only the Webclient.

Lowering the ring volume would help us too. We are in a call centre environment and the ring tone on the web client is too high.
I think I found the ring file in the users AppData directory in the Google Chrome directory for the extension. If I edited the .WAV file and lowered the volume of this would it lower the ring tone volume?

@RossCooney this would corrupt the plugin and Chrome will force you to redownload the package I believe.

I can propose a temporary solution for the time being though, if you happen to currently use the pc speakers and a headset on the same machine.

- The "Ringer" can be set to the sound output of the pc speakers. Then you can lower the volume of the speakers independently.

- The "Speaker" can be set to your headset. Then you can adjust the headset volume independently.

The volume of the headset and pc speakers can be set independently from the Windows 10 volume mixer.

Hi John,

Do I have to have one of those specific headsets to use it? At the moment it tells me "Permissions for audio input and video device were not granted "

No, that's not necessary because it should work without any special headset.

Just click on the lock icon in the Chrome URL bar to ensure you allow your devices like below and then it should be ok.

Also make sure that "webclient" is selected from the drop down menu

Got it thanks.

Im running the browser extension. Do you know if its possible to map a function key to auto answer the call or a "bring to front" feature? or know if it's in discussion to make it possible?

Shortcut keys are in the works. As for focus, this is more dependent on the OS but we are looking into it.

I think i've lost a feature moving to the 3CX extension for Chrome. Previously (when I used firefox) I would get a popup no matter what Window I had telling me who's calling. Now I can only find out when I open up the extension window.

Do you know if the next version of the web client will allow you to change the volume of the ringer?
The suggested workaround wont work in our environment.
Thanks,
Ross

I can't wait for custom ringtones. Can't stand the default o_O

Unfortunately I don't have any info on this at the moment.. I understand that each environment is different though and see how this would be necessary. Definitely something worth posting in the Ideas forum.

I think this is because the "Browser Extension" handles the calls now, as opposed to the "Web Client" mode that would use the browser / OS notification.

If you disable the extension, then you revert to the plain "Web Client" mode that relies on browser / OS toast notifications, but obviously you will not receive calls when the tab is not open. So you will have to pick the best option for you at the moment until we can find a way to gain focus through Chrome.
