Hi,

We've been contacted by a school to look at moving them to 3CX from their analog phone system. We'd be looking at 3CX Hosted as opposed to On-Premise.

They have some staff who only work certain days, so Staff 1 works on Mondays and Tuesdays, Staff 2 on Wednesdays and Staff 3 on Thursdays for example. They want one number to divert to a particular Staff member on the day that he/she is working, so if someone calls on a Tuesday, the divert calls Staff 1's mobile, but if it's a Thursday it only calls Staff 3's mobile. They don't want it bouncing between all staff until someone picks up.

I know Time Based Routing may work, but wanted to check this first?

Thanks in advance.

Using a dummy extension with exceptions for each hours range would be the way. Otherwise, if you were not Hosted by 3CX, I'd say CFD.

Thanks - funnily enough I was just looking at the On-Prem option with CFD. I think i'll spin up a VM and do some testing with this, but worst case using the dummy extensions on hosted.

Assume that's fairly easy to setup?

Yes it is.

Yes it is, in exception you need to create your days and hour ranges and set forwarding where you want

As @ConceptsWeb mentioned, the easiest way to do this is using a dummy extension. However, if you decide to go the Call Flow Designer (CFD) route, the only limitation to cloud hosting your 3CX is that you cannot use the Call Flow Designer when hosting your PBX at 3CX. Pretty much any other cloud hosting provider supports the use of the CFD (Amazon, Google, Azure, etc.). So you have the flexibility of choosing either on-prem or cloud hosted for both options -- dummy extension or CFD.

You could also just use a call queue and set the two employees hours/days on their extension to sign them in/out as needed and direct that did to the queue.
