Dedicated ISP connection for 3CX as alternative to QoS?

Local real estate office wants to set up 3CX as an alternative to their POTS.

They have only a consumer quality Wifi Router.

There are about 30 different agents/users.

Half of them work from home (during normal times, they are all at home now due to COVID). Probably a minimum of 8 concurrent calls.

They only call from within this local area, so I suppose there would be some advantage to hosting this on-premises.

The current connection is 100/10. Is simply adding another connection to dedicated to the 3CX box a viable option (about $60/month) as an alternative to configuring QoS?

What part are you unsure about? If you are asking if giving anything a dedicated connection is better than sharing a connection then the answer is yes. But why get a second connection for $60 a month when you could put it in the cloud for much less?

Putting it in "the cloud" infers many of the same problems with it being on the same LAN as the rest of the internet traffic, no? Don't we use QoS so our VOIP packets aren't competing with our Netflix/Youtube/Dropbox Uploads/Whatever? If the instance was in the cloud (but still sharing a connection with the LAN), don't we still have that same problem?

So having a 2nd internet connection in the office just for 3CX means you need either 2 network interfaces in the 3CX system or a 2nd gateway on the network, both of which would be additional costs. Having it in the cloud would cheaper, more reliably, and lessen the bandwidth depends (at least for now) as the WFH traffic won't be coming into the office. But yes, technically putting it in the cloud still has the potential for QoS concerns. That being said I think I can out on one hand how many installs we actually have QoS setup for. VoIP takes so little bandwidth that if you are having QoS problems, you probably need to upgrade your bandwidth anyways, or curb the extra curricular activities that are using the bandwidth because it certainly isn't work.

I would think most consumer routers have at least basic QoS nowadays? The last one I looked at allowed for prioritizing by device so one could prioritize the SBC (with 3CX hosted out of the office), or the 3CX server (if in the office).

why dont you just fire up a try license hosted (free for a year) and get them on it or at least you test it?
